About the Artist
Magic Realism
While growing up in Russia, Alla Parsons always expressed her emotions through drawing, and often visited museums, such as the Hermitage Museum in Saint-Petersburg, admiring works of Old Masters. Her dream of becoming a professional artist was suppressed when as a teenager she heard that “there had never been great women artists”. She earned a Master’s degree in World History and continued with Doctorate Studies in history. But Art, not History was her true passion.
In 2001, she moved to the US, where she finally pursued her dream of becoming a Professional Artist. She received her Bachelor of Fine Art degree and then Master of Fine Art degree. That was her second Master Degree in her second Life. She became a full time Art Professor, teaching Drawing and Painting classes at a higher education level. Today she teaches art at the Hawaii Pacific University and lives in Honolulu, Oahu. Her work includes landscape, portraits, and still life, she works in oil, watercolors and mixed media. Her art was exhibited nationally and internationally, have received awards and included in private collections across the US, Canada, Russia and Germany.
Her favorite art style is Magic Realism – art that tells a story, art in which some mystery or secret seems to be hidden within the subject matter.
